Lion’s Breath is a fun yoga pose for children that releases energy, and allows them settle into more peaceful feelings. This breathing exercise helps children to calm their bodies, and relax their minds. It is also an excellent hip and ankle stretch!
You’ll find Lion’s Breath in Where the Wild Things Are and The Gruffalo.
If you are in a quieter space, have children breathe fire like a dragon instead of roaring.
Step 1
Begin on your knees, then sit back on your heels.
Step 2
Spread your fingers wide, and press your hands onto your knees.
Step 3
Take a deep breath through your nose.
Step 4
Open your mouth, stretch out your tongue, open your eyes wide, and let your breath out through your mouth with a loud “ROAR!”
