Introduce a little bit of active movement with Run in Place! Increase core strength and balance, while releasing extra energy. If students are a little restless, have them Run in Place for 30 seconds – start fast, then gradually slow them down to standing still and returning to their seats.

Some of our favorite activities with this movement are Silly Sally and Let’s Go on a Monster Hunt. Both engage children in themed yoga poses and active movement, for a total body workout.

For less active movement, have children march in place.

Step 1
Stand upright, and begin running in place.

Step 2
Keep your feet moving at a comfortable pace, and pump your arms.

Step 3
Run in place until your teacher says stop, then slow yourself down or Freeze.
